Ted Laking was elected to represent the riding of Porter Creek Centre on November 3, 2025. On November 22, he was sworn in as the Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources, Minister responsible for the Yukon Development Corporation and Minister responsible for the Yukon Energy Corporation.

Born and raised in Yukon, Laking, a father of two young children, is committed to ensuring the next generation of Yukoners has access to the same opportunities he had growing up in the territory.

With extensive experience in federal, territorial, and municipal government, Ted most recently served a term on Whitehorse City Council, advocating for affordability, government accountability, and transparency for taxpayers, while also fighting for rural Yukon as President of the Association of Yukon Communities.

Having previously worked in the private sector, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience on how to deliver results, grow the economy, and advocate for Yukoners.
