“It has been 20 years since the horrific acts of terrorism that struck New York, Washington DC, and Pennsylvania. We will forever remember those who lost their lives that day, and those whose lives changed forever.

“Whitehorse residents will also remember this day for the diversion of two planes thought to be part of the attack. Canadians also showed we would help our American friends and neighbours in any way possible at their darkest hour.

“I thank all first responders who put their lives on the line that day, and every day. I hope a tragedy of this magnitude never happens again.

“We will always remember.”
