WHITEHORSE – The Official Opposition has successfully convinced the government to begin a review of the existing medical travel program for Yukoners. This was achieved through debate on a motion brought forward by Watson Lake MLA Patti McLeod.
Motion No. 45, moved by MLA McLeod and passed unanimously in the House, reads:
THAT this House urges the Government of Yukon to initiate a review of the medical travel program in order to ensure it is meeting the needs of all Yukoners.
“We have heard from many constituents regarding issues with the medical travel program and the financial support it provides to Yukoners and their families,” said McLeod. “The Official Opposition has asked the government several times over the last year to review the program to ensure it is adequately supporting Yukoners. I am pleased to finally receive a commitment from this government to take action and review the program.”
