Yukon Party Congratulates Yukon First Nations Wildfire on Arctic Inspiration Prize Win

WHITEHORSE – Below is a statement from Official Opposition Leader Stacey Hassard on the results of the 2019 Arctic Inspiration Prize:

“I’d like to extend my sincere congratulations to each recipient of this year’s Arctic Inspiration Prize, but in particular I would like to highlight the accomplishments of Yukon First Nations Wildfire on receiving the award for their Resilience Training and Healing Program.

“I am extremely pleased to see Yukon First Nations Wildfire get the recognition they deserve for the incredible contributions they make to our territory. Their goal to address the issues of mental illness, addiction and suicide in northern youth is important and will make a real difference.

“Their unique program will help to empower individuals through land-based healing, strong mentorship, and essential skills training such as financial literacy, offering a meaningful experience for each individual participant.

“On behalf of the Yukon Party Caucus, I want to again congratulate Chad Thomas and the Yukon First Nations Wildfire team for all their hard work and look forward to seeing the outcomes of success this program provides to the future leaders of our territory.”
