Official Opposition Submits Input on Technical Paper on Carbon Taxes

WHITEHORSE – Last week, Yukon’s Official Opposition submitted input to the federal government in response to their technical paper on carbon taxes.

The Official Opposition’s submission makes the case that a carbon tax in the territory will only make life more expensive for families. Instead the Official Opposition proposes real action in Yukon through innovation and incentives which will actually reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, save taxpayers money, and create jobs as well as economic activity.

Further, a recent survey of Yukon small businesses conducted by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) found that 88% of respondents opposed a carbon tax scheme in the territory.
