Official Opposition Responds to Liberal Cannabis Plans Which Will Grow Government

WHITEHORSE – The Yukon Party Official Opposition is outlining an alternative vision for the regulation and control of cannabis that limits the growth of the territorial government while creating opportunities for the private sector. The Yukon Liberal’s plan will grow the size of government and will only allow a private “off-sales” model at an undisclosed date in the future, which will still be required to compete against government sales.

Delays Mean Missed Opportunities for Local Contractors

WHITEHORSE – On April 7, 2017, Yukon signed onto the Canada Free Trade Agreement (CFTA) which allows the territory to choose 10 projects a year up to $1 million to exempt from national procurement and limit to local competition. Despite this being 322 days ago, the Liberals still have not identified all of the 10 projects for this fiscal year. This delay is preventing local companies from benefitting from this provision.

Yukon Liberals Waste Taxpayers’ Money Redesigning Government Logo and Website

WHITEHORSE – Today, the Liberal Government launched a new “visual identity” for the Government of Yukon. This will require the entire government to switch to a new logo, colour scheme, and font in everything from emails, letters, and business cards to ads and brochures. These changes also apply to Travel Yukon’s Larger than Life brand. All public servants must now refer to a new 44 page instruction manual to explain how they adhere to the new guidelines.
