Liberals Vote Against Capital Plan that Includes Details and Promotes Certainty and Accountability

WHITEHORSE – Today the Liberal government voted against an Official Opposition proposal that would see the Legislative Assembly support a five-year capital plan that includes real and quantifiable details while promoting certainty and accountability.

The Liberals brought forward a motion that reads:

THAT this House supports a five-year capital plan as a means of promoting transparency and predictability about the Yukon government’s capital planning.

The Official Opposition supports the concept of a five-year capital plan. However, it must include quantifiable details while providing certainty to industry and all Yukoners. For that reason the Official Opposition proposed an amendment to the motion to include these principles. The amended motion read:

THAT this House supports a five-year capital plan that includes real and quantifiable details as a means of promoting certainty, accountability, transparency and predictability about the Yukon government’s capital planning.

Unfortunately the Liberal government voted against this amended motion.
